1st Week Pregnancy

Maturity of the egg happens at this time. It is one week since the last occurrence of the period. With the regular 28 day cycle, it is estimated to be 1 week  before ovulation occurs. An egg in one woman’s ovary starts to ripen and mature. During this week her body starts to prepare for possible pregnancy. Signs of 1 week pregnant includes increase in libido and surging increase in estrogen hormones and other hormones, causing imbalance.

By this time the uterus and the cervix will start to produce special fertile mucus which fills the opening of the cervix and lines the uterus and fallopian tube. The mucus plays a huge part. It acts as a continuous stream that transports the sperm up to the fallopian tube.

Although wonderful phenomena happens inside the body, much of the signs should not be expected until the time that the fertilized egg has attached itself in the uterine wall. By that time, here are some signs and symptoms a pregnant woman should expect.

Sign 1: Cravings

Craving for food is normal. It can be a sign of pregnancy but this sign is not really a sure symptom. However, if craving is accompanied by the following symptoms, I give you my congratulations.

Sign 2: Darkenings

Darkening of your areolas or the skin around your nipples gets darker, then you may have a successful conception.

Sign 3: Cramps

Spotting can be experience 8 days after implantation. Cramping which is caused by muscle contraction of the uterus can be painful but will eventually be gone. The body is preparing the uterus to accommodate a possible baby.

Sign 4: Urinations

After the embryo has implanted itself and begins producing human chorionic gonadtropin, you may observe that urination becomes frequent. The extra blood during pregnancy leads to extra fluid being processed through the kidneys and into the bladder.

Sign 5: Breast Becoming Tender

The breast enlarging, becoming swollen and tender is one of the signs of being pregnant. The tissues in the body are preparing the milk that will be used to nurse the coming baby.

Remember that these symptoms are case to case basis. Miss period and morning sickness are some of the signs of pregnancy. For the miss period, this sign may not be applicable to women who doesn’t have regular menstrual cycle. It might be cause by a malfunction in the reproductive organ. Consult your doctor for irregularities in the menstrual cycle.
