All Hands on The Baby

Touching the baby while its inside the mother’s womb is often an exciting thing. When your tummy starts getting bigger, everyone would ask to touch it. Quickly, the tummy becomes a sort of a magnet that attracts everyone’s focus. No matter what activities you’re doing, someone’s always bound to ask to rub your tummy. Apart from you, you’re husband may be more disturbed about all the fuss. Your husband may look all right about it but he may already been thinking of pounding the wits out of anyone touching you. The first thing you must do is to ask him how he feels about this. Your husband may not really like the idea that other men are touching you, even if you’re okay with it.

He may not care if it is a female touching your body but he can mind about a man. This can be rather similar to seeing some woman pressing your husband’s chest. Can you imagine how it feels? Ask your husband to make an agreement with you. Naturally, you can’t possibly have any person touch your baby every time. Your belly, clothed or not is a personal space, sure there is someone intruding inside you but that person is welcome. But to actually touch someone else’s belly one should ask before they do it and respect your answer. There’s nothing wrong by telling people you don’t want to be touched. There are women who prefer not having their tummies touched or be seen just by anybody. And her decision must be respected. They may be embarrassed because they gained a lot of pounds. Sometimes it’s simply because she likes more privacy.

Children may also want to touch the belly, normally it is because they know someone that has had a baby and they were able to do it. If you prefer not being touched, tell the children calmly and make them understand why. However, most mothers are thrilled of having another kid touched their belly. You can put their hands on your tummy. Make sure you guide them to your tummy instead of letting them do it themselves. Some children may get too excited and end up smacking your tummy.

Forget about the rubbing the belly for a moment, be careful that you don’t get the person that likes to poke at it. That hurts more than anything and half the time they don’t get it. If you’re the mother, explain to them that the act is hurting you and the baby. Some people may think that when you jump, its not because of the pain but just because the baby moved. They may think twice before doing it again to you or anyone else.

If nothing else seems to work and you’ve been polite in letting people know that your belly is off limits, feel free to sick your husband on them or start swatting. Do this after you’ve given them a warning. You can smack a person that lifts your shirt up in broad daylight. Your swollen tummy is still a private area. That’s a normal reaction. And it gives them a good warning. If you aren’t pregnant, they wouldn’t do it.
