1. A baby shower is best celebrated before the new mother gives birth. Typically, baby showers are held a month or two prior to the birth of the baby. Recently, many people practice holding the baby shower a month or two after the birth. The advantage of a pre-birth celebration is that the mother will then only get things that were not given as gifts for the baby.

2. The host of the special event is usually the mother’s best companion. Relatives and co-workers can also host the event.

3. Baby showers are not just for first-born babies but also for subsequent babies. Every pregnancy is a reason to commemorate. Nothing is wrong with throwing a baby shower to your Second or third child.

4. It is just right to give gifts that are related to the babies. To be safe, its better to choose neutral colors. Specifically if the gender of the baby has not been identified yet. Pick out gifts that are useful for daily use such as baby blankets, cribs, bibs and feeding bottles.

5. For the host, it is okay to have games to break the ice but it is not that required. Conversations, food and drinks are the thing that should be considered. Though not necessary, you can also provide a blank book where the guests can write their personal messages to the mother.

6. You can have as much guests as possible depending on the venue. Sometimes, they hold a small number before the birth and larger group after the baby is born.

7. The most convenient time to hold a baby shower is during the weekends when people usually don’t have work and their children don’t have classes. If everything is doing well, the time may be extended.

8. If you’re the host, you may be the one paying for all the expenses.

9. The celebration is often held at the baby’s parents or the host. Because a pregnant woman is not precisely fit for surprises, it is crucial that the mom should be notified about the plans for the celebration.

10. It is not necessary to have a special invitation printed out. As an alternative to printing the cards, the host can just get greeting cards in bookstores. It will also be a wise decision to have the invitations sent at least three weeks before the party. Remember to include the directions.

11. If you’d like, you can base your party on a specific theme. Adding decorations and donning costumes can make the party more exciting and fun.

12. When guests come and leave, its recommended to say thank you for coming. As customary, the host should be consistently present to care for the guests’ needs.
