Discover Why The Number One Parenting Skill Is Consistency

Parenting is a difficult job, made more complicated by the uncountable rules that we are all supposed to follow. Parenting, in fact, is tough enough without all of the do-gooders that try to tell you how to be a good parent doing it their way.

Most of the time that we make decisions in regard to children it is based simply upon common sense and what is obvious. Kids that have difficulties at school or at home are often subjected to inconsistent rules that their parents can’t seem to get a hold of. Parenting, as you will soon see, can be enjoyable and worthwhile by being consistent.

A parenting style that has observed is that of the indulgent parent. Somebody who’s lenient or not very strict is one was of describing this type of parenting behavior. These indulgent parents are rather complacent when it comes to engaging with their children. Freedom is certain when you have parents like this. A parent should tell their child off when they’ve behaved badly, however many of these parents won’t, and we know the outcome of this. Ill-mannered behavior is common of a child that has parents who isn’t strict, due to the child knowing there will be no repercussions.

Sometimes parents think that they’re handing out discipline like it’s going out of fashion. As a parent it’s your duty to do the right thing when you have to. You must remember to keep everything focused and attempt to remember that you’re simply a loving teacher to your children. Doing what a teacher or mentor would do in a certain situation is needed because you are teaching your kids after all. You show your children what they need to do and how they must do it, and when they’re not too confident you install that missing confidence into them. It’s important to give some good feedback to them and to also assist them when needed. Don’t make any bad comments to your child to make sure they feel well received.

Often, one parent will feel more rejected when their child starts becoming more independent. The mother is more than likely the one for obvious reasons. Mothers are who they are, they are the ones who nurtured their children; we are speaking in general terms here. While we understand this can be a difficult realization for a mother, she needs to make the supreme effort to accept what is happening. When mom stands by her child and their thoughts rather than trying to sway their opinions with hers the outcome will be less controversial. Both parents in this situation need to allow their child some leeway while using commonsense at the same time.

The remedy to all of this is providing a home life that is stable and makes the child feel safe. Children simply deserve to be raised in a world where they feel safe and free from harm. While they will not think of it in those terms, the effects of feeling safe and secure will have resounding effects on later years and adulthood. Kids that grow up feeling anxious and that never experience consistency at home will probably not encounter these positive aftereffects. This does not mean that all adults that have a great number of insecurities in their life had a rough childhood. Being raised in a happy consistent environment will more than likely be a positive experience for all of those children.
