Have You Prepared Everything For Your New Baby?

The first baby you have is always going to be special to you, it might not sound nice to say that if you have more than one, but it is true. With the first one then you are entering the unknown, you have no idea what the pregnancy is really like, what the birth will be like.

So when the second baby comes along (if you plan on having more) then some of that mystery and sparkle has gone. You already know you are going to put on weight, that your back is going to ache, your ankles swell up, and that you will struggle to even get out of a chair later on! It will still be magical though once you get through all that and hold him/her in your arms for the first time, and you will still love them with all your heart.

You will also have most of what you need already for the second baby, because it will be hand-me-downs from the first, which saves a great deal of not just stress but money too. For first-time mothers then one of the best tips I can give is to speak to people who have had a baby in the last few years. They will really be able to help you prepare by telling you what to expect, what they regret not doing, what you need to buy or should avoid, and if they don’t plan on extending their family anymore then you might get the chance to buy some of their old equipment on the cheap.

One piece of equipment that it would be great to buy second hand is a nursing chair if you can get one, because they tend to cost anywhere from $150 up to $500 and more! Not everybody will want one though, they are a personal preference, but I think they are a great place to spend time with your baby during the day, or even to take them into if they are not sleeping well to rock them to sleep. Clothes are something else it is best to buy secondhand, yes I know there are a lot of really cute things in the shops you probably have your eye on, but when they only last for a few weeks then suddenly they get expensive really quick.

Something else you really need is some medical supplies, which should of course be brand new not second hand, because your baby is going to get sick at some point. Plus a book which tells you all about the most common ailments and what to do is a good buy. Having that book will be a real stress saver when your baby has a temperature in the middle of the night and you don’t know what to do.
