Kids Cowboy Boots – Is buying them online a good idea?

Kids cowboy boots!  This won’t take long!…or so I thought!

I was just looking for affordable cowboy boots for my two kids for their cowboy costumes.  Now I didn’t want to buy cheaply made boots because I knew they would be getting lots of use.  My kids love to dress up and pretend to be cowboys. Actually, even when they’re not dressing up as cowboys, they still like to pull on their cowboy boots with their other clothes too!  I’m sure there’s a few other moms out there who know what I’m talking about.  You know, these are the kids that would sleep in their cowboy boots if I let them.

Now times are tough, so I need to watch my pennies… so, I wanted to pick up a couple of pair of cowboy boots at a decent price, but these boots also need to come with decent quality that will hold up to the everyday use of kids running and jumping and playing.  I knew I did not need top-of-the-line quality cowboy boots for the kids because, as everyone knows, before those boots will ever begin to wear out, the kids will have grown out of them!

Not too long ago I bought some cowboy boots for them that were from our local discount shoe depot, and they came at a great cheap price. But, they also came with the cheap quality to match.  Those boots actually wore out before my kids grew out of them!  So this time I wanted to move up to the next level and try and find boots that would at least last until the kids grew into the next size.  I ran into the same general problem everywhere I went — either I found the exact same “cheap boots” (that I knew wouldn’t last and would be sending me back to the store every few months for new boots) or…I found expensive boots that I just couldn’t make myself spend that kind of money on!

Then I accidentally stumbled across a great resource!  Kids cowboy boots — online!  In the past I had resisted the idea of buying boots, or shoes of any kind for that matter, online.  I worried about not being able to try them on, which is definitely the only drawback in my book.  But, I checked the website’s sizing chart and their return or exchange policy and decided to give it a try. Worst case scenario was that if they didn’t fit I could easily return them or exchange them.  The website I found had good reviews and it was listed with the Better Business Bureau and a few other online verification sources, so I felt fairly confident that I wouldn’t get ripped off.

Now here’s my big tip of the day: Find a site that has a customer review section on their products, like the site I ordered from, you can read what other customers had to say about what they purchased.  You can find out if people are saying the item runs large or small, if the item is cheaply made or well made, if the company honors their return policy in a timely manner, etc.  By doing this I was able to learn from customer reviews that the cowboy boots I wanted to buy ran a little small so I knew I should order them 1 size larger.

Without ever having to leave home the boots were delivered to my front door within a few days and they fit perfectly!  Oh, and a little side note, something I didn’t think about during this whole ordeal was that when the packages were delivered to our house, the kids were so excited.  They had so much fun receiving a box and opening it and trying their new boots on.  It was almost like Christmas.  It was so much fun, since then we’ve purchased 2 more pair of shoes for each of the kids!
