The Production Of Singing Bottles

Do bottles produce different sound or pitch? In this 8th grade science fair project, we will be able to determine if bottles would really produce different sounds or pitch. We would also to make the bottles create a music.

PROBLEM

Do bottles create music?

HYPOTHESIS

Bottles generate sound, so music can be made too with the help of some variables.

MATERIALS

  • 5 identical empty glass soda bottles

  • Water

  • A spoon

PROCEDURE

  1. Prepare all the materials needed.

  2. Place the bottles in a straight line, about 3 inches apart from each other.

  3. Fill the bottles with water one-by-one.

  4. Fill the first bottle with a tiny amount of water.

  5. Fill the second bottle with a lot more water than the first bottle.

  6. Fill the third bottle with much more water than the second bottle.

  7. Fill the fourth bottle with more water than the third bottle.

  8. Fill the fifth bottle with a lot more water than the fourth bottle.

  9. Examine all the bottles if water level is already staggered.

  10. Take out your spoon and strike the tops of each bottle one after the other.

  11. Listen to the various pitches.

  12. By striking the bottles, you will be able to develop music.

RESULTS / ANALYSIS OF DATA

You should be capable to observe the various pitches upon striking the bottles. The pitch made is dependent not only on the volume of water, but the dimension and kind of bottle being used. You can tag the bottles in accordance to its pitch. It should be noted that it is vital to use similar empty bottles to produce the best musical results.

CONCLUSION

It is concluded that bottles with water generate unique pitches depending on the quantity of water. The 8th grade science project exhibits that the a lot more water in the bottle, the lower the pitch is made. The much less water that is in the bottle, the pitch is increased. This is due to the fact of the vibrating body of matter inside the bottle which is thequantity of water itself.
