The Secret To A Healthy Baby

Finally, you’ve found yourself pregnant and you are besides yourself with joy.  You look down and begin stroking your stomach, knowing that you now have a life growing inside you.  These next few months, are going to be an exciting time both you and your growing baby.  You know that you now have a life growing inside of you, and as your baby gets bigger, you will start to feel it move. This amazing event is happening because some cells got mixed, and now they are emerging into a baby, which you can’t wait to meet.  This is without a doubt a miracle of nature and you are part of it.

To give this baby the best environment possible, it’s essential that you eat well during your entire pregnancy.  The first three months might be a little difficult to eat balanced meals when you are dealing with food aversions and morning sickness.  If you are one of the rare lucky ones whose stomach doesn’t so much as move during your first trimester, then you can take full advantage of eating healthy right out of the gate.

When you are eating healthy, you are only going to be benefitting your baby.    A diet of junk food is not going to help your baby with bone development and organ formation.  Potato chips will not help with brain development.  Both your baby and your body requires high levels of calcium and vitamins for your baby to grow.

Eating well during pregnancy is going to help your baby eat well after it is born and on solid foods.   As you pregnancy reaches the later stages, you will find that everything you eat is passed to the baby’s placenta and into the amniotic fluid.  Your baby literally gets to experience everything you eat.  Babies swallow this fluid and their taste buds are so develop that even in the womb they are able to taste the flavors.  Doctors now believe that babies that are exposed to a variety of vegetables and fruits while still in utero, will probably be less of a fussy eater later in life.   These doctors believe that these babies will have no problem eating their fruits and vegetables.

Many doctors believe that pregnant women who consume milk during their pregnancy, will have a much easier time weaning their babies off formula or breast milk onto regular milk later on.   However, this is only one benefit, the other great benefit of consuming milk during your pregnancy is the calcium that your baby gets for their bone development.  Many doctors will suggest that you drink at least one eight oz glass of milk per day, preferably fat free.  Calcium is essential for your baby’s bones and teeth, although you will only see them when they become a few months old.

Throughout your pregnancy, you don’t need to avoid all sweets.  You can indulge every now and then and thanks to cravings you may find yourself wanting sweets more often than not.  Remember, to keep it in moderation.  Bear in mind, that being pregnant for nine months doesn’t mean that you get to eat whatever you want.  Both you and your baby could pay a dear price.
