Procedures like IVF, ZIFT, and GIFT are assisted reproductive technologies and are considerd to all be high tech treatments for infertility. Of these, IVF is the most popular. With IVF, medications are usually prescribed to help with the stimulation of the females ovaries, this helps to provide more quality eggs. When the time is right, the woman will undergo an egg retrieval to extract the eggs from her ovaries. The eggs are then mixed in a petri dish with the sperm and other nutrients to fertilize.
