By the time most women learn that they are pregnant, their babies already have pumping hearts. A heart only needs twenty one days to form and begin beating. For more than a century people believed that smiling was an activity taught to babies by their parents. Common thought said that learning how to express happiness was harder for babies than learning how to express displeasure (which is usually done through crying). Now scientists have learned differently. Smiling has been picked up by newer ultrasound machines, proving the old theories are wrong. Many families have been given ultrasound pictures of their smiling children weeks before they are due to be born. Common belief now is that the birthing process is so traumatic for infants that they do not smile until they have gotten over the shocking change in environments.

There is lots of baby knowledge out there that is not well known. You would think the opposite would be true since so many adults like to do research when they don’t know something and take so much pride in their knowledge.
