Important Ideas on Male Infertility Causes

Couples who realized that they have concerns conceiving should really have to see a physician.  The doctor may first check the female but that doesn’t mean that the male partner is absolutely free of any possibility of infertility.  In fact, statistics disclose that around 20% of couples who visit their doctors to ask about their continuous failure to conceive might find out that the male partner is the one who suffers from infertility.  Because of this it’s not just the women who should learn about the possible causes of their infertility.  The men too, especially those who wish to have babies soon, must discover the causes that can render them unable to impregnate their partners.

In finding out male infertility causes, doctors would often demand examinations on semen samples. A male individual, thus, who wants to have himself diagnosed for potential infertility must first provide the medical professional, usually a urologist, a sample of his own semen.  Aside from semen examination though, the male may also be asked to undergo other series of tests, for instance blood work in order to determine hormonal levels.  Conducting an ultrasound is also possible just like the post-ejaculatory urinalysis for them to find out if retrograde ejaculation is present.

Unlike in females, it’s more difficult to point out the symptoms of infertility in men. However, there are conditions that could be considered as most likely factors for male infertility causes. The possibility for infertility is higher in a man who is in his forties and above.  There are outstanding cases though, where men as old as sixty can still impregnate their fertile partners.   Nonetheless, if a male individual has a advanced level of toxins in his body due to drinking too much alcohol and to smoking, the chances of infertility can be very high.

The most possible male infertility causes are often based on the conditions of the sperm. If there is total absence of sperm or the condition known as azoospermia, then there is absolutely nothing for the man to fertilize the woman’s egg cell.  Infertility can also be caused by low sperm count or oligospermia.  The number of sperm cells is not the sole factor that can contribute to a man’s failure in fertilizing a woman’s egg.  If the sperm has an abnormal shape or if its movement towards the eggs encounters problems, infertility can also be potential.  Naturally, physical factors like sexual deficiency and poor erection would get in the way of the sperm’s fertilizing the egg.

If the male infertility causes are found out, the doctor may recommend certain steps to mend the condition.  If it’s infection that causes infertility, the doctor would then recommend a treatment procedure that might also include the use of antibiotics.  On the other hand, if the problem is triggered by a varicocele, a surgical operation may be required. However, infertility may be prompted by improper nutrition.  In this regard, the male would only be instructed to take supplements and eat particular foods rich with nutrients that can improve sperm count.
